Getting started

What is XenoCI?

XenoCI runs macOS CI on Apple Silicon Mac mini hosts in Seoul. Change one runs-on line in your GitHub Actions workflow; each job runs in a fresh VM that is deleted afterwards.

How do I start?

Sign up, install the XenoCI app on your GitHub account, and change runs-on to xenoci-macos. The Getting started guide in the docs walks through it.

Billing and credits

How is billing calculated?

One minute of M4 is one credit, charged per second for the time a job runs. There is no minimum, so a 13-second job uses about 0.22 credits. GitHub-hosted runners round each job up to a whole minute.

Do I also pay GitHub?

GitHub does not bill minutes for self-hosted runners, which is how XenoCI runs. Other GitHub fees, such as storage, follow GitHub’s policies.

What happens when credits run out?

Your 100 free monthly credits go first. When they run out, new jobs wait; they continue on purchased credits only if you turn on extra credits (KRW 100 each). Extra credits are off by default, so nothing is charged by surprise. Free credits refill every month and do not roll over; purchased extra credits never expire. Auto top-up runs only if you turn it on in settings.

Runners and images

How are jobs isolated?

Each job gets a fresh macOS VM. When it ends, the VM and the code, secrets, and artifacts inside it are deleted. Only the run record stays in the console.

When do macOS and Xcode versions change?

A new image is verified before it becomes the default for a label. The previous image stays available for a while, and changes are announced in the release notes.

Where do jobs run?

On Mac mini hosts in Seoul, on a wired internal network that is not exposed directly to the internet.

Security and data

What happens to job data?

A job’s scripts, output, and logs are deleted with the VM when it ends. GitHub Actions workflow logs stay on GitHub. The console keeps only records such as repository, workflow, duration, and credits used.

Is anything stored on the Macs?

No. Customer data is not kept on the Macs. Anything that must persist, such as a build cache, is stored on a separate server.

Can a build reach the internet?

Only to the default allowed addresses (such as GitHub, npm, and PyPI) plus any your organization adds. Add private registries in the console.
